Please Note: There is a difference between religion and culture.
Whilst the two often overlap and interrelate they are still inherently different. A person maybe of Orthodox religion but not of Greek culture just as a person can follow Greek traditions and not be of the Orthodox religion.
The Orthodox religion is well documented and you can ask any priest about the sacrament of marriage and you will get a straight answer to your question.
My blog is different. My blog focuses on the traditions of Greek culture and all the rituals that Greek people do before and after the actual ceremony. These traditions mean different things to different people depending on which island you are from or how your yaiya told you to do it.
For those who are interested here is a link to a website from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and a brouchure from the The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America about the Orthodox Christian Sacrament of Marriage.
