This Greek bride from Greece (not sure which island) smashes cups and plates on the footpath before she leaves her home. One of the guests (maybe her mother) sprinkles lathi, rose petals and rice on the ground that she walks on.
Do you know which island this ritual comes from?

I’m not sure if you’ve got it here, but the plate smashing represents how material possessions are ephemeral.
Also, this tradition is on Samothraki, though maybe not exclusively so.
I am from Australia too, it’s good to see other young greeks take an interest in the tradition and the culture
