The Priest is holding the wedding crowns over the Bible and the two lambades (candles) are stand on either side of the table.
I have been to some weddings where the candles are held by children (one boy and one girl) and other weddings where the candles are free standing on a post or something similar to the lambades in this picture.
A nifi i know wants to have two girls holding the candles for her wedding but everyone is telling her that this is ‘inappropriate’ and you just wouldn’t do that. So what are you supposed to do?
Does it matter whether or not the candles are held by children?

The Large Candles are put on a free stand that the Church has, if the Church does not have the Free Standing Candles, as my Church did not and my father purchased them from Greece as a Donation to the Church for my wedding, then the couple would hold them. If there is a Free Stands for the Large Candles then the couple hold a smaller set that comes with the stefana. No children hold the candles to the church. The Large ones are Connected by a satin ribbon just like the stefana.
