I found this Greek wedding tradition on i-do.com.au:
“During the marriage ceremony it’s a tradition that after the Gospel has been read the groom or the bride will step on each others foot. Whoever steps first will be the dominant one.”
Haha, yeah right… everyone knows that “the man is the head of the house… but it is the woman who is the neck”.
But, I’ll step on his foot anyway

During the Greek Orthodox ceremomy the priest mentions “the wife should be scared of her husband” in the context of showing respect to him. This has been twisted during the last decades and according to the bride’s temperament sometimes it is customary to step on her husband’s foot when the priest is reading this part. Therefore the stepping is done only from the brides.

Thanks for the insight Dimitris.
My boyfriend jokes with me about this and has always said that he will step on my foot on our wedding day. Now i can tell him not to bother…because it is my job
I guess people have different interpretations about these things. Traditions change over time and mean different things to different people.
