In This Picture:

The Priest is holding the wedding crowns over the Bible and the two lambades (candles) are stand on either side of the table.

I have been to some weddings where the candles are held by children (one boy and one girl) and other weddings where the candles are free standing on a post or something similar to the lambades in this picture.

A nifi i know wants to have two girls holding the candles for her wedding but everyone is telling her that this is ‘inappropriate’ and you just wouldn’t do that. So what are you supposed to do?

Does it matter whether or not the candles are held by children?

In this picture: 

“The traditional lambades adorn each side of the table with the crown tray. The candles are symbolic of the couples’ belief that Jesus is ”the light of the world and whoever believes in him shall never walk in darkness but have eternal life” (gestathi).

Notice the beautiful flowers on these lambades.
